Our Story

Mercedes Garage was founded with a straightforward belief: that a failed engine shouldn't mean the end of a vehicle you love — or a bill that writes it off.

After more than 15 years working hands-on with Mercedes powertrains, we saw the same pattern repeating. Owners were being quoted £8,000 to £15,000 by main dealers for engine replacements. Many were told it wasn't worth repairing. Others paid for short-term fixes that didn't address the root cause — and failed again months later.

We knew there was a better way. Our workshop in Billericay, Essex was set up to do one thing exceptionally well: rebuild engines to a standard that matches or exceeds factory specification — at a price that makes the repair a sensible decision, not a financial stretch.

Today, we've rebuilt hundreds of engines across the OM651, OM642, OM654, M276, and other Mercedes platforms. We know these engines intimately. We know what fails, why it fails, and — most importantly — how to make sure it doesn't fail again.

Mercedes Garage was incorporated in 2024 (Company No: 16500838). Our founder has been working professionally on Mercedes diesel and petrol engines since 2010, gaining over 15 years of hands-on industry experience before establishing this independent specialist workshop. The expertise is longstanding; the business is new.

What We Do

We are an engine rebuilding specialist. This is not a sideline service. It is everything we do. Every job follows the same disciplined process.

1. Full Diagnostic Assessment

We don't guess. Every vehicle is assessed using professional diagnostic equipment before any work begins, so we identify the root cause, not just the symptom.

2. Complete Strip-Down & Inspection

The engine is disassembled and every component examined. We measure tolerances with digital micrometers. Anything outside specification is identified.

3. Ultrasonic Cleaning

All reusable components are ultrasonically cleaned to remove carbon deposits, sludge, and contaminants before reassembly.

4. Precision Rebuild

Replacement parts are OEM-specification or premium-grade only. No shortcuts on components. No reusing worn parts. Calibrated torque tools used throughout.

5. Bench Testing & Compression Checks

Before the engine goes back into your vehicle, it's tested. Oil circuit pressure checked, coolant system leak-tested, compression verified across all cylinders.

6. ECU Reset, Coding & Road Validation

After fitting, we reset and recalibrate the engine control unit and road-test the vehicle to confirm everything is performing as it should.

Unlike a general garage, our facility is set up specifically for engine work. That means the right lifting equipment, the right diagnostic tools, the right measuring instruments, and — most importantly — an environment where precision matters. Clean work areas. How long does an engine rebuild take?

Typically 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the extent of work required and parts availability. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we provide your quote and update you proactively if anything changes.

Do I need to pay upfront?

No. We don't take deposits. You pay when the work is complete and you're satisfied. For large builds, staged payments aligned to milestones may be requested but are always agreed in writing beforehand.

What about my warranty if I sell the car?

Can you work with my local garage?

Yes. We regularly supply reconditioned engines to independent garages across the UK for them to fit. We also offer a full supply-and-fit service at our Billericay workshop. Trade pricing and technical support available.

What happens if something goes wrong after the rebuild?

Contact us within 14 days of noticing any issue. We'll inspect the vehicle at our workshop and, if the issue falls within our warranty cover, we'll put it right at our cost. We stand behind every engine that leaves our workshop.

Do you service vehicles or do MOTs?

We offer routine servicing and mechanical repairs. MOT testing is not carried out in-house — we refer to trusted local MOT partners where required. All emission system repairs maintain UK MOT compliance.
