Our Engine Rebuild Process

We perform a full diagnostic check and compression test to confirm rebuild requirements. We then provide a fixed-price quote before any work begins.

The engine is carefully removed and completely disassembled. All parts are cleaned using thermal and shot-blasting methods to reveal wear and damage.

Every component is measured to micron tolerance. Cylinders are bored and honed, crankshafts ground, and deck surfaces milled to factory specs.

All wear items – bearings, piston rings, seals, gaskets – are replaced with genuine or OEM parts. Reassembly follows Mercedes-Benz torque and angle settings.

Every rebuilt engine is run on our dyno for a full break-in cycle. We check for leaks, verify performance, and calibrate engine management.

The engine is re-installed, fluids filled, and a comprehensive road test is performed. Only when everything is perfect do we hand the car back.

How long does a Mercedes engine rebuild take?+
Our typical rebuild time is 3-5 working days from arrival at our workshop. This includes strip-down, machining, assembly, dyno testing, and road testing. Complex V12 or AMG engines may take longer; we will advise you when quoting.
What is included in the rebuild price?+
Your fixed-price quote covers all labour, machining, new bearings, piston rings, gaskets, seals, timing chain components (where applicable), and engine oil. It also includes the 12-month unlimited-mileage warranty and dyno testing.
Do you use genuine Mercedes parts?+
We use genuine Mercedes-Benz parts or OEM-quality equivalents from trusted suppliers. For critical components such as timing chains, we fit factory-spec parts to ensure long-term reliability.
Can you rebuild an AMG engine?+
Yes. Our technicians are experienced with all AMG engines, including M156, M157, M177, M178, and the four-cylinder M139. We have the specialised tools and knowledge required for AMG rebuilds.
Do you collect vehicles from outside Essex?+
