If your G63 AMG is a 2012–2018 W463-generation model with the M157 twin-turbo V8, valve seal and coolant system wear is a well-documented pattern on this engine. We replace valve seals, timing chains, coolant components and bearings as standard on every M157 rebuild — the same pattern confirmed across the AMG V8 family in the S-Class, CLS and E-Class.
The current-generation G63 AMG (2018–present, W463a) uses a different engine, the M177 4.0-litre V8 — a later design with its own valve seal and coolant wear pattern, but not the same unit as the M157 fitted to your 2012–2018 car.

ABOUT THE MERCEDES G63 AMG ENGINE
The G63 AMG has been the high-performance flagship of the G-Class range since 2012. The 2012–2018 W463-generation model uses the M157 — a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 that was the pinnacle of Mercedes-AMG's V8 engineering of that era. It's a different engine from both the naturally-aspirated M156 that preceded it in other AMG models and the newer M177 4.0-litre unit that replaced it from 2018. The M157 is known for valve seal and coolant system wear at higher mileages — which is why we replace those components as standard on every rebuild, alongside the timing chains and bearings.
