Mercedes GLC300 Oil Leaks & Coolant System Wear (M256 I6)
The M256 is a sophisticated 3.0-litre inline-six with an integrated starter-generator and electric auxiliary compressor — a more modern and efficient design than the older M276 V6. We replace timing chains, bearings, water pump and gaskets as standard on every M256 rebuild.
Because the GLC300 uses a completely different engine family from the V8 M178 fitted to the GLC-Class 63 and GT 63 S, parts and rebuild specifications don't cross over between them.

ABOUT THE MERCEDES GLC300 ENGINE
The GLC300 has been a core part of the GLC-Class range since the model's launch in 2015, spanning two generations under one badge. The earlier X253 generation (2015–2022) uses the M274 — a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that was widely used across Mercedes models of that era. From 2022, the X254-generation GLC300 switched to the M254, a newer 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit that added mild-hybrid technology and increased torque from 258 lb-ft to 295 lb-ft.
