SL63 AMG engines — M157 across R230 and R231 generations, and M177 on the current R232 — commonly show valve seal and coolant system wear over time. We replace valve seals, coolant components, timing chains and bearings as standard on every SL63 AMG rebuild.
The R232 generation (2021–present) marked a significant structural shift for the SL range — moving to Mercedes-AMG exclusivity — but the M177 engine's known wear pattern is consistent with the established AMG V8 pattern across both the M157 and M177.
