The S63 AMG has been the performance flagship of the S-Class range since 2008, spanning three generations. Early and mid-generation cars (W221 and W222, roughly 2008 to 2020) use the M157 — a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 shared with several AMG models of that era. From 2020, the W223-generation S63 AMG switched to the M177, a newer 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8.
