Mercedes S65 AMG Oil Leaks & Coolant System Wear (M256 I6)
The M256 is a sophisticated 3.0-litre inline-six with an integrated starter-generator and electric auxiliary compressor — a more modern and efficient design than the older M276 V6. We replace timing chains, bearings, water pump and gaskets as standard on every M256 rebuild.
Because the S65 AMG uses a completely different engine family from the V8 M178 fitted to the S-Class 63 and GT 63 S, parts and rebuild specifications don't cross over between them.

ABOUT THE MERCEDES S65 AMG ENGINE
The S65 AMG represents the pinnacle of the S-Class range — a V12-powered flagship that sits above even the V8 S63 AMG. Across its two generations (W221, 2008–2013, and W222, 2013–2020), the S65 AMG has used a single engine: the M275, a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12. It's a complex and highly specialised unit, and rebuilding it requires the same level of care and expertise as the car's original assembly. The S65 AMG was discontinued after the W222 generation — the V12 role in the current W223 range moved to the Maybach S680 instead. The S65 AMG is no longer in production, but we continue to rebuild and replace engines for every one still on the road.

MERCEDES S65 AMG ENGINE CODES
M256 (R190, 2023–present)
A 3.0-litre inline-six petrol mild-hybrid engine fitted to the S65 AMG from 2023 to present. The M256 features an integrated starter-generator (ISG) and electric auxiliary compressor, making it a more modern and efficient design than the older M276 V6. We replace timing chains, bearings, water pump and gaskets as standard on every M256 rebuild.
